The charge-transfer reaction between both 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ) and tetracyanoethylene (TCNE) as a π-electron acceptor and astemizole (AST) as electron donors have been studied by ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry that TCNQ and TCNE were found to react with AST to produce stable charge-transfer complexes.
