宁波大红鹰学院是一所经国家教育部批准设立的本科层次民办普通高等学校，由宁波大红鹰教育集团投资举办。学校前身为创办于1997年12月的宁波职业教育专修学院。2002年5月，经浙江省人民政府批准，成立宁波大红鹰职业技术学院。2003年11月，成为全国试办国家级示范性软件学院的35所高校之一。2007年6月，顺利通过教育部高职高专院校人才培养工作水平优秀评估；同年12月，以优异成绩通过全国高等学校设置评议委员会对学院“申本”工作的考评。2008年4月，经教育部批准，正式升格更名为宁波大红鹰学院。学校本部地处我国东南沿海重要港口城市、长三角南翼经济中心和国家历史文化名城——宁波，
杭州湾分校区坐落于世界最长跨海大桥——杭州湾跨海大桥南翼的宁波杭州湾新区内；校区总占地面积1300余亩，校舍建筑面积40余万平方米。校园布局大气，环境优雅，教学设施完善，教育功能齐全。现有教学仪器设备总值6650万元，馆藏各类图书130余万册；建有校内实验、实训室150个，与企业共建校外实训基地134个。目前校内设有信息工程学院、机械与电气工程学院、经济与管理学院、外国语学院、艺术与传媒学院、人文学院、基础学院、软件学院、社科部、公共体育部等八院二部共46个本、专科专业；另设有成人继续教育学院、自学考试学院、国际教育学院等教学机构。全校教师700余人，专任教师中具有副高级以上职称人员占31%，硕士以上学位人员占36%；现有全日制在校大学生1万3千余人。学校以举办全日制应用型本科教育为主，立足浙江，服务长三角，辐射全国；侧重面向信息技术产业、先进制造业和现代服务业，逐步形成“以工科为主，多学科协调发展”的学科专业建设格局；积极推进质量工程建设，突出人才培养的技术应用和工程实践特色，不断深化学生管理“主体化”改革，努力培养适应区域经济和社会发展需要的“基础实、能力强、素质高”的高级应用型专门人才。学校将始终坚持“以人为本、德能并重”的办学理念，坚持“百折不挠、超越自我、不断追求崇高目标”的大红鹰教育精神，坚持为区域现代化建设服务的宗旨，以“自信、专注”为校训，以内涵建设和发展为重点，努力建设成为一所特色鲜明、有改革创新示范价值的国内一流民办本科应用型大学。Ningbo Dahongying University (NDU) is located in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, which is an international port city boasting a 7,000 year cultural heritage. The modern city of Ningbo has an agricultural and industrial economy, which has high private ownership and has been responsible for the development of many well-known Chinese brands and trademarks. The city has a population of over 5 million, is strategically located near Shanghai and has been awarded many prestigious accolades such as the“National Culturally Advanced City”, “National Garden City”, and “Model City for Chinese Living Environment”.Inaugurated in 1997 as the Ningbo Specialized Training College of Vocational Education, it was quickly recognized by the MOE for its excellence, and by 2002 it was upgraded to the Ningbo Dahongying Vocational Technical College. In 2004, the Software College was established in line with the national pilot scheme, to train much needed IT professionals. From 2002, the college evidenced continuous improvement and delivered quality vocational education, and received several awards of excellence in private education. This effort, by the administration and staff, was again rewarded by the MOE and the college was granted general university status in April, 2008.NDU is a comprehensive medium sized Chinese university situated on the outskirts of Western Ningbo with a spacious, quiet, picturesque and hi-tech campus. Many facilities provided by the university are“state of the art” and are used to instill professionalism in the students as well as to skill them with practical and operational abilities. The university has a strong technical emphasis and caters for approximately 10,000 students.The university targets the cultivation of qualified high-level application-oriented professionals.It has a strong link to regional business, and produces graduates that satisfy the needs and demands of industry and overall social development of the region.NDU concentrates on delivering a student centered training model of “One Primary and Three Secondary Aspects”, with capability as the mainline.The primary focus is Application, with secondary underlying attention being given to skills integration, adaptation to the“outside world”, and creativity.
